Ok, first of all…this drink just looks cool ed-hrvatski.com!
Before finding this recipe I had never heard of mixing tonic water with coffee. Apparently it’s been a thing for quite some time, but mostly in bigger cities like Tokyo, Toronto, and Berlin. These drinks are usually referred to as espresso tonics, Caffe tonics, or black tonics. I thought it was kind of a strange concept but after trying it for the first time discovered that it’s an absolutely fantastic idea. The result is a complex package of sweet, citrusy, creamy, and effervescent all bundled into one.
Espresso tonics are super simple to make, although you do have to make sure that you add the ingredients in the right order, and some types of tonic water and espresso work better together than others. Fever Tree brand tonic water is a winner.
You want to start with 6oz of tonic water on the rocks and then slowly pour in the espresso. If you pour it too fast or do it in the wrong order, you’ll cause it to overflow.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy your newfound burst of flavor.
